Profile:

Sired by the world’s most influential stallion in Arabian horse breeding of the modern era, Daga is an exemplary specimen representing all that the world has come to expect from the best GAZAL AL SHAQAB mares of Poland.
Although mostly known for PIANISSIMA & EMANDORIA, GAZAL AL SHAQAB is more importantly the sire of many valuable broodmares, who are proving more than successful in the breeding barn, as witnessed in PERFINKA & PERNAL (out of the GAZAL daughter PERFIRKA), DAMA PIK (out of DAMA KIER), PERON (out of PEROLIA), BERENIKA (out of BELGICA), WAGIRA (out of WKRA), NOMAD (out of NORMA) or FLAMINIA (out of FILISTIA). With that GAZAL AL SHAQAB joins a group of such influential import sires as PALAS, PROBAT & MONOGRAMM before him, whose impact on Polish breeding cannot be overestimated.
Daga is out of DAJANA, a full sister to DRUID. The best race horse of the 90s of the last millennium, DRUID ruled the track for as much as three full seasons, winning 13 of his 16 starts, among which were 11 stake wins. The most important included the Derby, Janów Podlaski (Arabian Produce) St., the Europa Cup twice and the Criterium St. twice - the first time as a 3 year old, besting older and more experienced rivals (including twice Europa Cup winner KISHAN, Oaks winner ESTELKA & Janów Podlaski St. winner WHISKI). Delegated to stud duties DRUID went on to sire GOREC, who made his father proud by winning 8 of his 19 starts, among them the Derby and the Europa Cup twice. DRUID’s final word on Polish soil was during the 2000 Janów Podlaski Sale, when he was secured in a dynamic bidding by the Turkish Jockey Club for 500 thousand dollars.
Both DAJANA and DRUID are out of one of Michałów’s most cherished broodmares, the iconic PROBAT daughter DALIDA. A Derby winner herself, with a class win at the Junior Spring Show and a second at the Polish Nationals, DALIDA fully embraced the Polish “bold and beautiful” model Arabian. Her descendants include Junior Spring Show Reserve Champion Mare DZIĘCIELINA, Springfield Junior Champion Mare & Reserve Champion Mare DRZEWICA, Junior Spring Show Reserve Champion Mare, Poznań Junior Reserve Champion Mare, Bełżyce Junior Champion Mare DOBRA NOWINA, Syracuse Junior Champion Mare & Reserve Champion Mare DIASPORA, Polish National Junior Bronze Medalist Mare DAMA PIK & Junior Spring Show Reserve Champion Mare, Junior Spring Show Bronze Medalist Mare, European Junior Bronze Medalist Mare DIARA, whereas her son DOBRYŃ was utilized in the refinement of Anglo-Arabian breeding.
