Profile:
Ostoja comes from a distinguished Janów Podlaski family of „O” racing horses, which have just as many athletic successes as the famed “S” line of SABELLINA. The damline takes root in the legendary OFIRKA, whose story is absolutely screenplay-worthy. Lost during the turmoil of World War II, OFIRKA was later found and brought back to Janów, where she produced several (different lettered) horses of immense athletic talent and breeding value (including US racing sensation ORZEŁ, Oaks winner ADIS ABEBA and “G” pillar broodmatron GASTRONOMIA), but it was her last daughter ORLA who “stole the racing show” by winning 10 out of her 11 starts and becoming “Quadruple Crowned” - winning the Derby, Oaks and Criterium St. twice. ORLA went on to produce ORGIA, also a Triple Crowned racing filly and the winner of 10 races from 12 starts.
Ostoja, a race winner herself with a money-earning finish in the Oaks, lays direct claim to ORLA & ORGIA through other capable racing fillies: dam OLITA (3 track wins and placed in the Sasanka St.) and granddam ORAWA (6 track wins and placed in the Oaks and Bandola St.). ORLA’s descendants have excelled on tracks on both hemispheres, but have been especially successful on American soil, establishing great sub-dynasties of their famous progenitor. One of the latest “O” phenomenons of recent years was the US-bred ORGIA FATA, who was imported to Poland and mirrored the successes of her great ancestors: she won the Derby, Oaks and Criterium St. twice, becoming a SECOND “Quadruple Crowned” equine in her esteemed damline.
But surprisingly the most acclaimed representative of ORLA’s damline today - Ostoja’s dam - is known not for her track record, but accomplishments from the show arena. OLITA has captivated spectators and judges alike with her feminine charm and claimed the titles of Scandinavian Champion, World Senior Top Ten, Burbank RCAHA Annual Spring Horse Show Champion, Arabian Breeders World Cup Senior Top Five, Scottsdale Senior Reserve Champion & Autumn Show Senior Bronze Champion Mare.
The culprit behind OLITA’s enchanting looks is Polish National Champion & US National Top Ten ECAHO. A son of Polish National Champions PEPTON & ETRURIA, stemming from Janów Podlaski’s most precious damlines, ECAHO has been especially adept at siring some of the most feminine mares in Polish breeding history, proof of which are World Champion EMANDA & double Polish National Champion/Best in Show (both Junior & Senior) PALMETA.
